Skrmetta files for Reconsideration of State-Wide Energy Efficiency Rules
As sneaky and underhanded actions go, Commissioner Skrmetta’s recent move sets a new standard for low. After more than three years work, the Louisiana Public Service Commission successfully passed Energy Efficiency Rules in December creating statewide Energy Efficiency programs to help families and businesses save money. In his first move as the newly selected Chairman of the Commission, Skrmetta is taking the unprecedented step of attempting to reverse the Energy Efficiency rules in a vote this Wednesday (a move announced late Friday afternoon). Read a description of the rules and the official rules here. 46 states and the City of New Orleans currently offer Energy Efficiency programs to capture money being thrown away on wasted energy (that benefit only the utility companies) and reinvest those dollars to lower customer’s energy bills and create valuable local employment. The rest of the nation is already saving, while Skrmetta schemes on ways to keep on delaying.Don’t let him undo Louisiana’s new Energy Efficiency laws, a critical component to address rising electricity costs. We need your help NOW to show Skrmetta his anti-consumer agenda is totally unacceptable. Please call your Commissioner TODAY and let them know you support energy efficiency for Louisiana and to vote NO on Skrmetta’s attempt to undermine it.
