About Us
Founded in 1985, the Alliance for Affordable Energy promotes equitable, affordable, environmentally responsible energy. From the start, we have advanced a philosophy that there is no conflict between lower energy costs and lower pollution, between good jobs and regulation, or between serving the public interest and making a reasonable profit. Because we are both a consumer advocate and public health advocacy organization, our policy work meets at the crossroads of social justice, sustainable economic development, and environmental protection.
The Alliance is the only dedicated consumer advocate in Louisiana for utility customers. We fight for consumers through Education, Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency. We monitor, educate, and participate in state and city utility regulation to ensure the public's best interests. Our recent accomplishments demonstrate the important synergies between our technical policy work and community organizing. The Alliance for Affordable Energy is committed to promoting a new vision for energy policy in Louisiana, from an “energy state” to a “clean energy” leader in the South.
AAE adheres to the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing and The Principles of Environmental Justice (EJ)
"We, at the Alliance, believe we have a responsibility to be actively anti-racist, to call out unjust actions, and to fight for a world that does not threaten the lives of our friends, our neighbors, and those whose names we don’t yet know. "
- Excerpt from We Cannot Be Silent: A letter to all allies against White Supremacy

Interns & Volunteers
If you're an intern then you're a integral part of our team.
The Alliance looks for interns year-round to help us accomplish our goal of making Louisiana more energy progressive. Our interns are considered to be a vital part of the Alliance, and play a critical role in helping us accomplish our mission. Our Executive Director Logan Burke started out as an intern herself. Interns support our work in a variety of ways through research, data compilation and analysis, report writing, attending regulatory meetings and outreach events, and much more!
The Alliance's internship program supports the work of motivated young people with new ideas and fresh approaches. Learn more about internship and volunteer opportunities on our Intern & Volunteer Page!
