THE PEOPLE'S POWER HOURWHIV FM 102.3 FM | Tuesdays 1-2 pm (CT)The Alliance for Affordable Energy's weekly discussion on energy matters in Louisiana. We talk tech, policy, politics, economics, civil & environmental rights, and the fair transition to clean and affordable energy. Giving you the information you need to use your power. |
Loyola New Orleans College of Law students and current interns at The Alliance Carrie Ann Decote and Brenna Landis join our hosts to talk about their ongoing project and the group they founded, Louisiana Utility Watchdog. LA Utility Watchdog helps ratepayers understand the complex process of engaging with the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC), the body that regulates most utilities in Louisiana.
Carrie Ann and Brenna tell us about the virtual Community Dialogue they hosted, featuring special guests Davante Lewis, the LPSC's recently elected District 3 Commissioner, and Representative Matthew Willard, District 97. Attendees learned about the Securitization Act, one of the reasons why Louisiana ratepayers are paying for Entergy's failed infrastructure (to the tune of $4.7 billion!), and the systemic power imbalances that have led to this issue.
