At a special session on March 28th, 2016 the Louisiana Public Service Commission approved the previously rejected Cleco/Macquarie sale.

Casey DeMoss, CEO of the Alliance for Affordable Energy, called the result “a gold mine for Macquarie, a land mine for ratepayers and the commission.”

DeMoss told the commission, “Nothing has fundamentally changed about the risks you didn’t like a month ago. So many questions about this deal have not been answered. They have rearranged some furniture in the house, but the foundation is still cracked.”
