The Alliance is currently looking for a part time (20-30 hours/week), LPSC Education Coordinator, to educate Louisiana residents on state level, electric utility regulation and opportunities for engagement at the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC), as well as work with partner organizations who do Get Out The Vote efforts. This is a temporary position through December 2024.

The Alliance is the only dedicated consumer advocate in Louisiana for utility customers. We fight for consumers through Education, Clean Energy, and Energy Efficiency. We monitor, educate, and participate in state and city utility regulation to ensure the public’s best interests. Our recent accomplishments demonstrate the important synergies between our technical policy work and community organizing.

The Alliance for Affordable Energy is committed to promoting a new vision for energy policy in Louisiana, from an “energy state” to a “clean energy” leader in the South.

The LPSC is often referred to as one of the most impactful, elected positions that no one knows about and we aim to change that through this position. Nearly all of Louisiana’s energy decisions are made at the LPSC, including the applications for new power plants, review of rate increases, intrastate oil pipelines, and the fate of our long awaited Energy Efficiency programs. This year is an election year for one of the five elected Commissioners. Each term runs six years, with a three term limit, totaling up to a possible 18 years in office. This election is crucial for Louisiana residents, and we need engaged voters who understand the power of the LPSC.

We seek someone with existing ties to communities and civic organizations in District 2, with organizing and outreach experience. This person would need to be confident in working closely with Louisiana’s diverse communities to empower individuals to engage with elected officials in a potentially unfamiliar place. A relevant college degree or equivalent experience is preferred, although not required.

Apply by submitting your resume and a cover letter to info@all4energy.org.

Who We Are:

Our mission at The Alliance for Affordable Energy is to safeguard Louisiana’s future by protecting consumers’ right to an affordable, equitable, and environmentally responsible energy system.

Our vision is a future where energy works for everyone.

Founded in 1985, the Alliance for Affordable Energy promotes fair, affordable, environmentally responsible energy. From the start, we have advanced a philosophy that there is no conflict between lower energy costs and lower pollution, between good jobs and regulation, or between serving the public interest and making a reasonable profit. Because we are both a consumer advocate and public health advocacy organization, our policy work meets at the crossroads of social justice, sustainable economic development, and environmental protection.

AAE adheres to the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing and The Principles of Environmental Justice (EJ)
