Recycling is one of the basics of an environmentally responsible lifestyle but it’s not always as simple as it should be.

Some residents of Jackson, MS, got a rude awakening recently when they found out where exactly their recycling was ending up. Local news station WLOX ran this story, exposing one recycling company’s bad practice.

On a much more positive note, residents of New Orleans – who threw a hell of a party during Mardi Gras  – can recycle the beads they collected during the festivities. Local non profits like Arc of Greater New Orleans and Verdi Gras are at the heart of the initiative. Read more about it here and here.

Further west of New Orleans, in California Sims Recycling Solutions is hosting an event where local residents can drop off their unwanted electronics and appliances to be recycled. The San Francisco Chronicle reports. And meanwhile, on a different continent altogether, Namibia has revealed plans for an ambitious recycling plan of its own. AllAfrica.com has the details here.
