The Alliance is hiring a full time Community Policy Coordinator to support organization-wide efforts to combat false climate solutions including carbon capture, carbon dioxide pipelines, carbon dioxide injection, and hydrogen. 

Candidates will need to reside in Louisiana. We seek someone with existing ties to communities and civic organizations within Louisiana, with organizing and outreach experience. This person would need to be confident in working closely with Louisiana’s diverse communities to empower individuals to engage with elected officials and agency leadership in a potentially unfamiliar place.

​Responsibilities and Duties:
The Alliance has three program areas: Consumer Protection, Energy Efficiency, and Clean Energy. This position will connect our work to communities across Louisiana and provide strategic support across regulatory and legislative jurisdictions to address community needs and false solutions across programs. We seek someone with existing ties to communities and civic organizations within Louisiana, with organizing and outreach experience. This person would need to be confident in working closely with Louisiana’s diverse communities to empower individuals to engage with elected officials and agency leadership in a potentially unfamiliar place.The ideal candidate has excellent prioritization and time management skills, discretion and confidentiality, is flexible and adaptable, as well as open to feedback and continued growth. A relevant college degree or equivalent experience is preferred. 
  • Track policy and activities associated with CO2 capture, CO2 pipelines, CO2 injection, and hydrogen
  • Initiate, develop and maintain partnerships with other organizations and groups including the Louisiana Against False Solutions Coalition
  • Develop written support materials with support from staff and subject matter experts
  • Manage and develop key stakeholder relationships
  • Organize, attend, and facilitate coalition meetings 
  • Lead and support media and communications efforts of AAE and coalition partners
  • Draft and submit formal comments on relevant topics to local, state, and federal agencies
  • Plan and organize convenings to help facilitate and increase community participation

General duties:
  • Participate in Alliance strategic and organizational planning along with board and staff 
  • Maintain files and database related to false solutions
  • Create original content for the Alliance website, e-newsletter, blog, and radio show
  • Assist Executive Director in developing budgets related to false solutions campaigns.
  • Maintain clear and consistent organizational messaging 
  • Maintain and cultivate connection with established membership and constituency, including advisory committee and active volunteers. 
  • Work with interns and other volunteer staff 
  • Assist the Executive Director with fundraising including donor relationships, grant writing, and events 
  • Grant reporting as needed 

Qualifications Required:
  • Passion for clean energy solutions, environmental justice, and climate action 
  • ​​Understanding of the history and impacts of systemic racism, inequity, injustice, oppression, and exclusion in our society
  • Excellent oral and written communication and research skills. 
  • Critical thinking, analysis, and ​​project management skills 
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and professionals 
  • Ability to work effectively within budget, while leveraging partnerships and volunteers to maximize impact 
  • Skill in use of computers, commonly used office software, internet, etc.
  • Experience with social media outlets including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Able to travel frequently, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle. 

Qualifications Preferred:
  • Experience in public speaking 
  • Curious and flexible personality 
  • Skill in management and supervision 
  • Experience in and/or understanding of city, state, and national climate movements 
  • B.A. or relevant coursework

This position is associated with grant support and is funded through at least May 2025. Compensation based on experience, starting between $55,000-$70,000 annually, plus 100% covered health insurance and 401K matching benefits. Generous vacation and flexible working schedule. Hybrid office/home working schedule allowed. Funding for professional development, parental, and sabbatical leave. The Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and full-time employees qualify for the US Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
