The Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) meeting is coming up on January 24, 2024 and the agenda is packed!

First, the Commissioners will elect the Chair and Vice Chair position for the 2024 calendar year, and the LPSC Representative for the Organization of MISO States (OMS), Entergy Regional States Committee (ERSC) and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP). These positions will all be held by Commissioners and elected by the Commissioners.

The Chair and Vice Chair positions will lead the LPSC meetings and represent the LPSC for 2024, while the Representatives for OMS, ERSC, and SPP will represent the LPSC in those respective policy tables. When it comes to OMS, ERSC and SPP we’ll need a Commissioner that understands the value of transmission.

Next, hopefully, will be the star of the show when the Commissioners take up the final Energy Efficiency rule to implement long-term, robust energy efficiency programs through an independent third-party administrator to create transparency and accountability to maximize our energy savings and lower customer bills (Exhibit 13). This has been a top issue for The Alliance for over a decade and you can catch up on what this proposed final rule entails below.

Other Items to Mention:
Stay tuned, this is just the Regular Agenda and we’re expecting the Supplemental Agenda to be posted on Friday, January 19th.

If you can’t make it up to Baton Rouge on January 24th for the meeting, you can always tune in here, and don’t forget to call your Commissioner in favor of the Energy Efficiency rules as if this most recent cold snap didn’t serve as a reminder as to why we need insulation in our homes!
