“The Alliance is thrilled to see Entergy taking the initiative to incorporate new solar resources and hope this alternative to the traditional resource acquisition process will allow them to take full advantage of the dynamic solar market. The Alliance will continue to watch these potential new resources to ensure these costs do not put undue rate increases on Louisianans,”
The approval provides Entergy Louisiana expedited flexibility to acquire up to 3 GW of solar as projects become available, yet does not include any shovel-ready projects. This approval is crucial for incorporating more solar onto our grid at a faster pace as the traditional LPSC approval process for new generating resources is not designed for renewable resources.
The Alliance did not oppose the uncontested settlement which is necessary to more fully realize Louisiana’s solar potential, yet recognizes that solar at any cost will harm the state’s most vulnerable residents.
This approval represents a roughly 1000% increase in solar capacity in the state.
Customers ranging from large industrials to residents are demanding renewable energy for its low cost and clean attributes.
