Energy Smart is an energy efficiency program created by the New Orleans City Council, and administered by Entergy New Orleans (as well as APTIM, a third party administrator), that offers solutions to help New Orleans residents and businesses save energy and money.

Any residential, commercial, or industrial Entergy New Orleans electric customer is eligible to participate.

More Information

The program provides customers with a free home energy assessment that can help you find out where your home might be losing energy. The program also offers rebates for efficiency improvements such as attic insulation, air sealing and duct sealing, annual HVAC tune ups, appliance upgrades, and more. Income-qualified households may be eligible to receive some of these services at no cost.

The Alliance worked for many years to make Energy Smart a reality. Initially started as a pilot program, The Alliance has made sure Energy Smart is now a permanent and comprehensive program by incorporating Energy Smart into the city’s Integrated Resource Plan. We recognize that the program hasn’t reached its potential, and that many New Orleanians still can’t participate, including those with the highest energy burdens. Thus we’ve successfully advocated for changes to the program to improve it’s effectiveness and reach by targeting specific neighborhoods with residents who struggle the most to keep the lights on. The program also now goes beyond efficiency and includes incentives for customers with battery storage.

The Alliance will continue to monitor the implementation of the program and offer guidance to the City Council on program adjustments to increase the reach of these programs.

Since the start of the program in 2010, Energy Smart has:

helped improve the efficiency
of 155,162 homes & businesses

saved 568.8 million kWh of energy

provided $72.5 million in incentives
