This Saturday, November 15, voters in Districts A and E are heading back to the polls for the runoff to choose their next City Councilmember!

Did you know that the City Council is responsible for regulating your utilities, Entergy New Orleans and our new gas utility, Delta Utilities?

That means if you live in Lakeview, Bayou St. John, parts of Mid-City, parts of Uptown, New Orleans East and the Lower Ninth Ward your vote has a direct impact on your utility bills.

New Orleans City Councilmembers are responsible for determining:

The two Councilmembers elected Saturday will join the five elected outright during the October General Election. It will be up to the newly elected Council to hold Entergy and Delta accountable, strengthen our grid, and make sure every family can afford to keep the lights on. So let’s make sure they put people, not profits, first.

We at The Alliance know the work doesn’t end with this election. The years ahead are a chance for all of us, residents, advocates, and leaders, to keep pushing for a system that truly serves the people of New Orleans. The next Council has an opportunity to put residents first and build an energy system that’s affordable, reliable, and equitable.

But it starts here with your vote!
