So far the biggest item on the agenda is a vote on a settlement reached on Cleco & SWEPCO customer refunds associated with the Dolet Hills Power Station.
The bottom line: the judge found that both Cleco & SWEPCO forced uneconomic generation into the market saddling customers with the excess cost. The good news is the settlement means refunds for Cleco customers in the summer months & SWEPCO customers will get a reduction in other costs. Unfortunately this is just the tip of the iceberg. We know other utilities in Louisiana are guilty of the same practice.
We’re also going to be watching out for a report from LPSC Staff Consultant, Chris Justin, on our current energy efficiency programs in order to get a better understanding of how our Quick Start programs can best transition to a Third Party Administrator for a comprehensive energy efficiency program.
BUT- the big cliffhanger is Entergy’s proposed resilience plan. They’ve asked the Commission to approve their $1.9 Billion plan at Friday’s meeting. While we fully support resilience spending, this request is an attempt to circumvent the regulatory process, and the utility has zero support from the 11 intervenors in the docket. The Alliance is working diligently to determine what to expect on Friday and exploring all of our options should this move forward at the out of town LPSC meeting in Many, Louisiana.
