There’s a lot on the August Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) meeting agenda, and Entergy is front and center! Here’s what we’re watching:
Exhibit 2: Entergy Louisiana (ELL) is seeking approval for a rate increase in Docket U-36959, and we actually support it! While customers will see between a 1-3% increase over three years, Entergy has agreed to lower late fees from 5% to 1.5%, eliminate disconnect & reconnect fees for customers with Smart Meters and report on disconnects and overdue accounts by zip code. The settlement also includes the formation of a Low Income Affordability Working Group that will assess that data to better align energy efficiency programs and federal funding with the neighborhoods that need it most.
Exhibit 14: The LPSC is set to hire a monitoring engineer for Entergy’s $1.9 Billion Resilience Plan, Docket U-36625. With $1.9 billion on the table, we want to make sure we get some good oversight. We’re pleased to see the LPSC taking this up as a vote as the stakes are high!
Exhibit 26: Entergy is going to give a report regarding advanced nuclear technology in Louisiana under Docket No. X-36987. We know at least one Commissioner is pushing Small modular reactors (SMRs) and has hosted a couple of technical conferences on the feasibility. While they are clean burning, they’re far less than renewable , not to mention expensive!
Exhibit 27: The LPSC has revisited its Siting Order for Transmission. The change looks pretty standard but there may be some shake up from the Commissioners on how to make it even better.
