On Wednesday, August 20 the LPSC is being asked to give final expedited approval to Entergy’s proposal to build three gas-fired power plants and a new transmission line to provide 2.6GW to Meta’s new A.I. data center near Monroe.
The vote on this project was originally supposed to take place in October of this year, but at Entergy’s request the Commission decided to take the issue up at their August 20 meeting. Why is this moving so quickly? This unprecedented proposal has been permitted to move forward through a highly irregular process, seemingly in an effort to hide as many details as possible from us as Louisiana ratepayers. This is a massive project with huge implications for Entergy customers across the state!
