Melanie Dione (she/her/hers) is a grateful daughter of New Orleans with a 24-year career as a legal secretary behind her. She has provided support at firms in New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh, PA. In Pittsburgh, she got her first taste of nonprofit support, working alongside an attorney who offered his time to the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund (TLDEF), helping transitioning Pittsburgh residents navigate the name change process.
Melanie would go on to provide her time as a consultant and volunteer to various nonprofit organizations in New Orleans, before joining Resistbot as its digital community manager. She took on the task of building an interconnected web of activists, advocates, and organizers, with a particular focus on highlighting grass roots organizations in need of amplification and support through outreach and digital media. She also served as The Resistbot Podcast showrunner and launched a regular Instagram series “Mel’s Morning Mug.” She now blends her vast experience in serving the people of Louisiana, ensuring that everyone has access to efficient and affordable energy with the rest of the AAE team.
Melanie is also a mom of two amazing human beings and two suspicious cats. When she isn’t at The Alliance, she is busy being a craft beer enthusiast and working on her first novel.
