The fight to keep CLECO local is not over yet.
A Toledo Bend business owner is speaking out against the CLECO sale. Here is what Mr. Randy Ziegler had to say about the proposed CLECO sale:
“Our task of protecting the CLECO customers is again being challenged. On Monday, March 7th CLECO and their “Partners” filed a joint motion for Immediate Rehearing and Reconsideration for the CLECO sale to Macquarie at the March 16 meeting, only a week away.
It is unimaginable that after 18 months – 5 days of Legal Law Judge review and a LPSC hearing last month all confirmed the fact that this sale is no good for Louisiana and the customers of CLECO. This latest effort is an insult to our state and its people. Doing what is right is our passion and our task and we are up to this task, but we need your help!
We are requesting the LPSC reevaluate the rate increase in 2010 that started this whole mess. Perhaps this will expose the people who want to exploit the CLECO customers for their personal enrichment.
When my son was growing up, our friend bought a new Cadillac. My son kept saying how wealthy this friend must be. In my son’s naivety – he didn’t understand that appearances are not necessarily a good measure of reality. This friend lost his Cadillac when the oilfield suffered its set back in the ‘80s.
Such is the case with this sale of CLECO. Any company with 80% debt will have difficulty meeting their obligations when there are changes in the economy. These large companies use bankruptcy as a way of doing business. All the promises made to the LPSC can be instantly dismissed by the judge in bankruptcy.
The quality company that CLECO once was is but an illusion if this sale is allowed to happen. Quality is earned everyday not manipulated by greed.
Please help us prevent this disaster!”
