Charletries ("Charlie") Lloyd
Charletries ("Charlie") Lloyd is a hardworking mother of 4. Before joining the LA Green Corps, Charlie worked various fast-food jobs throughout the city. Being a Corpsmember has taught her many new skills she would otherwise not have had the opportunity to learn. Charlie was a leader among her peers at the Green Corps, and has brought that leadership to her home and community. This spring she weatherized her own home, and has noticed the difference in her pocketbook. In the future, Charlie plans to work for "Coast to Coast" Fishing Company, but her goal is to work in the Energy efficiency and Green building industries. As she says,"I want to do something that's not just a job. I want a career I could pass down to my kids."
The LA Green Corps program is a collaboration of a network of organizations including the Corps Network, Americorps, ARC of Greater New Orleans, Old City Building Center, Job 1 and Louisiana Workforce Commission, Department of Labor.
