Solar

solar panelThe Alliance for Affordable Energy works to promote the use of solar power and solar heating technologies, both large-scale commercial and residential.   As part of this work, the Alliance supports the expansion and development of Louisiana’s residential solar industry through providing education to solar consumers and providing a workforce for residential solar installation through our workforce training program.

Part of our work in providing marketing and education to develop the local solar industry is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar America Cities program.

For more information on the solar in New Orleans, including contact information for solar providers, please visit solarpowernola.org, or call us at (504)208-9761 to discuss and view models of solar thermal and photovoltaic systems.

As of June 2009, there are a number of bills in the Louisiana Legislature that will expand existing state tax credits for installing solar systems.  The Alliance endorses many of these legislative proposals and other proposals that will help expand renewable energy production in Louisiana.  For a full list, see our 2009 legislative endorsements - Louisiana page.
