Insulation

ISSUE:
Insulation is an important component of tightening a building’s envelope by providing a continuous thermal barrier. The more thermal resistance your insulation provides, the lower your cooling/heating costs and the more comfortable it will be inside the house. Heat flows naturally from warmer to cooler spaces. So, during those very hot summer months, there will be heat infiltration into the house and during cooler winter months, heat will move to adjacent unheated attics, garages and outdoors. Heat transfer can also move through interior ceilings, walls, and floors. Choose an insulation that is best for your house and your budget. Make sure that your insulation is installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. It’s estimated that 80% of homes have improperly installed insulation. Ill-fitting or compressed insulation (with fiberglass) can allow thermal infiltration, reducing the efficiency of it. Your house will not be as comfortable and your energy costs may be higher.
