Flat-Plate Solar Collector

 
ISSUE:
This is the most common type of solar collector, composed of an insulated metal box with a glaze (a glass or plastic cover) and a dark-colored absorber plate. It heats the liquid to temperatures less than 180ºF. The simplest type of flat-plate collector heats water directly as it passes through the collector on the roof and flows into the house for use. This is the type of collector used for solar pool heating.
