New Orleans City Council

Because the New Orleans City Council regulates utilities within city limits, it is the second regulatory body in the state (the first being the Louisiana Public Service Commission).  An important part of the work the Alliance does is to work with the City Council Utility Committee to promote fair, affordable, progressive energy policies for New Orleans citizens and ratepayers.

What is the City Council Utility Committee?

(The Utility Committee) oversees the Council’s regulatory authority over Entergy New Orleans, Inc. and Entergy Louisiana, Inc.; and makes recommendations to the full Council concerning electric and gas utility rates and services.
