Dear Commissioner Skrmetta:

I am writing to urge your support for a strong, mandatory renewable portfolio standard for Louisiana. Only a strong, mandatory RPS will help to stabilize our volatile energy prices, attract economic investment in our state and create new jobs.

As a policy promoting renewable energy in Louisiana, an RPS should not include dirty and unsafe technologies such a nuclear power. Nuclear power facilities are extraordinarily expensive to construct, and the generation process creates waste that remains toxic for thousands of years.

Louisiana ratepayers are ready for a new, green economy.
