Energy Star: Camille Ching, Legal Intern
July 18-The Alliance for Affordable Energy would like to recognize the great work of Camille Ching, our summer legal intern as this month’s Energy Star.
Ms. Ching hails from California, where she will be a second-year law student at Santa Clara University law school. During her 8 weeks of time with us this summer, she has been an important member of our regulatory team, participating in policy meetings, conducting research, and submitting legal filings to the Louisiana Public Service Commission and New Orleans City Council.
Some of the highlights of Ms. Ching’s work this summer include research in best practices for Integrated Resource Planning, Renewable Portfolio Standards, and municipal energy efficiency programs, as well as investigating the potential for geothermal renewable energy resources in Louisiana. To leverage her own rigorous research, Ms. Ching is also supervising a policy research intern, Margo Smirniotopoulos. Currently, Ms. Ching is drafting an amicus brief in support of the LPSC in their action to recover regulatory funding from budget cuts at the state legislature – supporting one of many projects that will have long-lasting impacts on Louisiana rate payers.
“Working at the Alliance for Affordable Energy has opened my eyes to important energy policy that is being enacted all over the nation, but has received little or no attention,” says Ms. Ching. “Now, I can see that implementing progressive energy policy is possible but it requires hard work from dedicated people.”
We would like to thank Ms. Ching for her dedication, positive energy, project focus, and team-oriented work this summer. Her service has been a great asset to our organization and the future of progressive energy in Louisiana.
